7. You are arrested
This is another one that’s in the giant ref flag category and may be more alarming than finding out that your bank account has been emptied. It’s not uncommon for criminals to use the names of other people when they get arrested, and when they fail to show up for their court appearance, an arrest warrant is often issued. If you happen to get pulled over by the police for a traffic violation, and you are told that a warrant has been issued for your arrest for something you know nothing about, there’s a good chance you are a victim of identity theft.
