8. Health insurance claims
It can be both frustrating and alarming to have your insurance company deny a claim because they tell you that you have already had that procedure performed in the past. When an identity thief uses your information to receive medical treatment, you may be denied coverage. Be wary of any statements you receive in the mail from your health insurance provider listing treatment you did not actually receive. Prepare to spend a good chunk of your time dealing with your insurance company resolving the problems the identity thief has caused.
9. Unexpected mail
Another big red flag is raised when you receive documents in the mail advising you that you have opened a new bank account or taken out a loan. As hard as identity thieves work to cover up their illegal activities, sometimes they are not able to completely cover their tracks, and the person whose identity they are using will be notified when their name is used to open an account or borrow money.
