Coffee
This may come as a hard blow to those who cannot live without their morning cup of Joe, but coffee damages your teeth. More specifically, it’s the tannic acid that coffee contains which will damage the tooth enamel. It can also begin to stain your teeth brown over time, so limiting your coffee intake is one of the best things you can do for your teeth.
Tomatoes
This is another vegetable that has a number of health benefits except when it comes to your teeth. Tomatoes are very acidic, whether you eat them raw or in sauce. The best way to enjoy tomatoes with their other health benefits is to eat them with other foods which will limit the exposure of your teeth to the harmful acids they contain.
Soda
In addition to causing a myriad of other health problems, soda is horrible for your oral health. This is because they have a trifecta of tooth-damaging elements: sugar, acid, and carbonation. It doesn’t matter if you’re drinking regular or diet, because all studies done on soda and teeth show that the two do not mix.
Dried Fruit and Candy
We all know that candy is bad for our teeth, and we know it’s because of the amount of sugar it contains. Hard candy is particularly damaging because of the extended amount of time it spends in our mouth. Dried fruits make it onto this list for the same reason. They contain high concentrations of sugar and their sticky consistency causes them to stick to your teeth.
